Pashupatinath Temple

The temple serves as the seat of the national deity, Lord Pashupatinath. The temple is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
It is said that the wish-fulfilling cow Kamadhenu took shelter in a cave on the Chandravan mountain. Everyday Kamadhenu went down to the place the lingam was sunken into the soil and poured her milk on top of the soil. After ten thousand years some people saw Kamadhenu pouring milk on that same spot everyday, and started to wonder what that would be. So they removed the soil and found the beautiful shining lingam. After having a good look they disappeared into the lingam, freed from sin and rebirths. More and more people came to look and more people disappeared into the lingam. This was a big concern for Brahma.

Things Singapore Taught Me about Travel

Do you remember the time when your parents take down the Christmas decorations and keep everything in one corner and that corner looks supernaturally magnificent because all the glitter, stars, trees, streamers and lights are curled up together?

singapore tour packageAnd to make it more fun, you connect the tied bundles of lights to the switch and turn it on.. and it lights up like never before, maybe because of the fact that the tiny & colorful bulbs are very close to each other and surrounded with so much magic! This is what Singapore looks like! Jazzed up, luminous, uptight, striking & stunning! You can’t help but fall in love with the city and the prodigious whereabouts it has to offer. But as it is said, you didn’t enjoy your drink if you didn’t shake it well. There are some things you need to do if you want to see a better Singapore and I learnt those things when I last visited this astounding place.

So here are some travel tips that need to go in your travel notepad before you take off…..

Let’s talk about Cost first. Food, accommodation, transport etc.. are the inevitable expenses and you need to manage each of them accurately. Accommodation is not cheap in Singapore, so be prepared to splurge out good amount of currency.

Next comes the Food…

botanical gardensThere are plenty of eateries especially alongside the road which offer delicious food in less than $4 per meal.. After that, sky is the limit! Transportation is another problem faced by lot of travelers. There are plenty of buses and taxis around Singapore but the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) runs the length and breadth of the country.. Other activities in Singapore are not that expensive. Entries to most of the places like Singapore Botanical Gardens and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve are free Is your wallet already crying? Well, don’t worry. Here are some money tips which might avoid that burnt hole in your pocket.

a) Use Public Transport. If you plan to travel too much, you can get a Singapore tourist pass which will allow you to board a number of trains and busses.

b) Eat on Smith Street. The stalls here are very cheap and offer a large variety of local snacks and light food.

c) Eat Cheap.Do not spend too much money in eating. Try eating at local restaurants like Chinatown, Little India etc and save for the real adventure ahead.

night safariOne of the things that Singapore taught me about travel is that, never leave the culture of the city behind in the lieu of exploring fancy malls and pubs. Thian Hock Keng Temple is one of the most photogenic buildings you will ever see. The temple was constructed in 1840 and was designated as the national building in 1973. DO NOT miss The Merlion Statues. The exotic statue/ fountain showcasing half fish and half lion is the national mascot of Singapore and you cannot leave the country without hanging out with these beautiful pieces of art.

night safariWith the blinding glitterazzi, don’t forget to explore the beautiful zooz, night safari and botanical gardens in Singapore. Wander through the swaths of virgin rainforest (the mainboardwalk through it is entered from Upper Palm Valley Road) and then take in the National Orchid Garden’s many-colored collection of 1,000 orchid species and 2,000 hybrids. When you’re done, drop into the food court near Tanglin Gate for a traditional local breakfast of soft-boiled eggs, coffee and toast slathered with coconut jam. And yes! Don’t forget to ride the giant Ferris wheel. So, these are some tips which are often lost behind huge posh and sophisticated places meant to be seen. This will help you in making your trip more economical and memorable one.
